Rural affordable housing is mainly delivered upon 'Planning Exception Sites'. This means it can only occur should there be support from the local community. This support comes from an established need for the housing and a political will from the parish or town council.  Cascade encourages the involvement of the local people and their representatives in every aspect of the decision making process to ensure that wherever possible, this support is forthcoming. We seek the support of the district council as they influence the affordable housing grant and planning. Where our client is a registered social landlord,  they are therefore a development partner, since they must influence design and cost to meet their exacting specification needs. Finally,  we must seek the approval of the scheme funders,  be they the Housing Corporation or an alternative funding source where a grant is not readily attainable.
